Mavis Brown was our guest speaker this month. She presented a slide show and talked to us about life in the Arctic from when she lived there for 9 years in the 1970s.
She brought many samples of clothing made from 'duffle' (felted Hudson's Bay blanket material), furs, and animal hides.
Felted moose hair appliqué
She also had lots of carvings from whale and reindeer bone as well as from the teeth of various animals.

November 2023
Barbara K designed and created the whitework biscornu and needlebook.
Geri finished the Holly 'n Hardanger ornament from the Just Cross Stitch 2009 Christmas issue. She replaced the red and clear beads with HotFix 'jewels'
Geri also showed off her Moonshine Cabin designed by Jacob de Graaf of Modern Folk Embroidery. It was a collaboration with Evertote and Leo & Roxy floss in 2022.
It was finished like a big hanging ornament.
Our next stitch day is Saturday, December 2 and the next meeting will be December 20, 2023.

Meagan did a presentation on Round Robins. She showed us several examples that she, her mother, and grandmother participated in over the years.
The theme and parameters are decided by the originator and the stitchery is passed from one to another member in the mutually defined period of time. When the originator gets the sampler back, it's completed with everyone's contribution.
They can be band samplers like this:
Acorns
Angels
Meagan's memento of a camping trip.
Sylvia's satin stumpwork flower designed by Pam Cousins
Sylvia's reticella biscornu with corded needle lacing - she translated the Japanese pattern to English
Barbara K's Victorian biscornu
and her tart pan design from the Buffalo guild
Barbara also displayed her project from 2023 Winnipeg Seminar "Trevelyon's Garden" by Kathy Andrew - silk on silk.
Jeanette hemstitched her Louisa Acton sampler using Mary Corbet's tutorial.
Victoria stitched the Entrelac de Bleu pillow from Reflet de Soie.
